A cannabis campaigner is taking on the "old boy network" as he runs for the Dunedin mayoralty.
Abe Gray, 34, a curator at the Dunedin-based cannabis museum, made international headlines when the Caversham-based museum listed on Airbnb. The museum had helped with "economic grassroot development in one of Dunedin's most impoverished neighbourhoods". He said Dunedin felt like it was dominated by a traditional "old boy network", and it was good to challenge the status quo. Gray said he was a communicator who had promoted Dunedin on the international stage and was "in touch with youth culture". If elected, he had no plans to shave off his distinctive beard, which was 16 years in the making. - stuff.co.nz |
