Songs will be sung to support a little Taupo girl bravely battling an inoperable brain tumour.
Elyse Johnson has been fighting against an inoperable brain tumour since she was two-years-old and has already outlived life expectancy expectations initially given by doctors.
However, the ongoing survival and treatment comes at a cost and a concert is being organised to help continue to raise money for her treatment which costs thousands of dollars each month.
"Elsye is taking a number of natural medicines which are helping her fight this awful tumor," mother Casey Johnson said. "Unfortunately, like in many other cases, medicines that actually help aren't government funded.
Elyse takes TBL-12, a natural product made out of marine ingredients, with the main ingredient being bêche-de-mer (sea cucumber). It works by modulating the immune system, which in turn helps fight cancer and other diseases.
One box of 52 tubs (one months supply) costs $1,124.17. She also takes Sativex a medicinal cannabis spray in controlled doses. One months supply costs $1,685.60.
She also takes Frankincense Extract as research shows a evidence this extract can give protection from brain, breast, colon, pancreatic, prostate and stomach cancers.
Jackson Owens and David Wall will perform with Jerry Taukamo, Jam Dr and other local acts have all volunteered thier time to make the concert a reality.
The concert will take place on April 29 at The Spa Hotel in Taupo. Tickets start from $5 for children and are available from Bailey Quinns Hair Studio.
